5x5 Mini Book

Fun comes in small packages!

Product Photo

5x5 mini books are available in perfect bound soft cover. Their small size makes them highly portable and a good choice for brag books.

Mini books can be auto-scaled on checkout, so multiple sizes can be purchased from a single book. However, if you plan to scale down from a 12x12 layout and have a lot of smaller text on the page, it may not be very readable. Also, make absolute certain all important items (heads, text, borders) are at least .25" from the edge on all sides. We trim 1/8" on all sides and 1/8" is a lot more in relation to 5" than it is to say 11".

Will you ship a sample book before a large order is placed?

More than 120 pages in the 5x5 mini?

by Norine, Sun 08 of Jan, 2012 (07:22 UTC)
Is it at all possible to increase the max number of pages in the 5x5" books to 185 pages, to accommodate a Project 365 print - one photo/page/day? If not, you should consider this, as the Project 365 community is large and growing larger.

TIA

Hello,

To maintain the binding integrity these books cannot have to thick of a spine.

If you are specifically interested in the 5x5 minibook I would suggest you put them into volumes as seasons!

We can also easily accommodate a page count up to 440 pages in our 8.5x8.5.

If you have any further questions please let us know and we will do our best to help!

Low DPI

by AMH, Thu 08 of Dec, 2011 (05:52 UTC)
Hello. I'm planning to purchase the 5"x5" mini book and I get an error, "Your image is low in dpi" for all my images. I've been uploading pdf files, dimensions of 5.25"x5.25" in 300dpi, created in photoshop. I'm not sure what the problem is.

When I go to my projects, the dimensions are set to 12"x 12" is this causing the error?

AMH,

Greetings from Viovio!

If you are trying to import 5.25x5.25 size jpg's into the Designer then yes, that is what your warnings are referencing. The Designer creates pages at the largest size within that ratio which is 12x12 or 12.25x12.25 with the bleed.

You can however save them as pdf's combine the pdf's in Preview (Mac) or Acrobat (PC) and then import the file as a whole book using our PDF Wizard: http://www.viovio.com/products/pdf/ This will recognize your file size and allow you the purchasing option of only that file size.

When it comes to mini-books and pricing it's important to remember that the 5x5's are sold in packs of 2, so in order to receive 50 books you will place an order of 25 5x5 2-packs. You can easily accomplish a free price quote for your project by visiting our Product Catalog here: http://www.viovio.com/wiki/Catalog - simply click on the "square 1:1" ratio tab and then enter in your info above to receive your quote with the bulk discount automatically calculated in!

Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will help in any way we can!

Looking for a run of 50. Do I qualify for the $.25 per page price?

Greetings from Viovio,

It's easy to access a free price quote from our Product Catalog page: http://www.viovio.com/wiki/Catalog - when looking for a quote for a 5x5 make sure you select the "square 1:1" tab.

One of the best parts of the Product Catalog is that all you have to do is simply put in the amount of pages and the amount of that book you wish to purchase, and it will automatically calculate the bulk discount into the price quote for you!

When factoring in quotes for 5x5 mini books remember that they are sold in packs of 2. Therefore you will need to purchase 25 packs of 2, giving you 50 books. So the amount of 25 is what will need to be entered into the calculator.

Let us know if you have any further questions and we will do our best to help!

Creating a 5X5 mini book

by Jane McDonnell, Tue 18 of Jan, 2011 (15:03 UTC)
I am in the process of creating a 5X5 mini book in InDesign. Should I create it as facing pages or single pages?

Jane,

greetings from Viovio, and thank you for your interest.

You can have them printed either way :)

Here is a link to our page about 2-page spreads that may help: http://www.viovio.com/photos/gallery/11323

As a note, for all of our books the first interior page prints on the right, regardless of whether or not it displays on the right or left in the preview. The first interior page will always print on the right.
