Hardcover Material Wrap with Die-cut

Product Photo

Our die-cut hardback book has the image that you designate as your cover image peeking through the die-cut window on the front. We give you the option to keep the cover image to full scale, scale it to fit inside the die-cut hole in the cover or scale it to a certain percentage of the original size. The options are available on the die-cut cover tab during the cover creation stage of the bookmaking process.

The measurements shown for the die-cut opening are approximate. The covers are pre-made and dimensions can vary slightly from book to book.

NOTE: When you upload your cover image, the system can scale the front cover image to fit the die-cut window for you. Just make your front cover image the same size as all your interior pages.

If you are uploading single images (layouts) to a photo gallery and using the Book Designer you can upload any size square image. Just try to make it as close to 12"x12" (or your preferred book size) as possible and the bookmaking software will do the rest for you.

Re: Premium printing with die-cut cover?

You do! But the interior paper is listed as digital silk, and I'm interested in premium paper! Or do I misunderstand - is digital silk and premium the same thing? Sorry, I'm a bit confused and can't find any clarification in the help.... Thanks :)

Hi, Tracey!

Unfortunately, the die-cut is not available with the premium printing. You can see which products are available with premium printing here:

I am interested in premium printing with a die-cut cover at 12x12... is this possible? I only just realized it might not be, and I'm very sad...!

Laurie,

Greetings from Viovio, we are happy to help! I'm so glad you've enjoyed the process, it is a blast making these books.

Once you have completed your project then you will need to look to the right of the page and you will see "1>>Layout Pages 2>>Design Cover 3>>Webstore Options"

You will first click on Step 2, Design Cover. This will take you to the cover step! Once you have finished designing your cover you will from there click on Step 3, Webstore Options.

From the Webstore Options page you will be able to view your book in both the Layout Preview and the Flip Preview. Here you can check your Guide Lines and ensure that none of your vital content will be trimmed during production. If you decide to go back to step one please always move back consecutively through the steps (1 - 2 - 3) in order to ensure those edits make it again to the Preview Step.

If you approve your book for print you can look below the preview and click to select the type of book size, binding and paper option you want. Then click the "Buy Now" button on the bottom Right of that page!

Your next step will allow you to Preview your books again, select if you want the Viovio Logo removed ($10), add any order notes, and select how many of that book you want to purchase. When it is all entered in correctly then click "Add to Cart"

From there you can proceed through a standard shopping cart entering your info as requested and selecting your shipping method.

If you have any further questions please email us at support@viovio.com

12" x 12"

by Basheer AbdulMusawwir, Wed 14 of Sep, 2011 (03:30 UTC)
Hello, I have been reading many of your comments, but I have a few questions.

01) I am laying out books for a 12" x 12" format. So my actual document size will be 12.25" x 12.25"--- .25" outside the 12" margin line is for the bleed, Inside the 12"--- .25" for a safety margin ( I am going with 12.5" x 12.5" just to be extra safe with the bleed area ) Is this okay?

02) I am doing the book(S) in CMYK. I have converted many old photos & negatives from before the digital age into CYMK color. I was reading one of your comments that you prefer them in RGB but your printer is set for CMYK. Will submitting the book(S) in CMYK present a problem?

03) I am using Adobe In-design and converting the books to a PDF. The PDF will be in CMYK or do you prefer the PDF to be RGB? I would like to know which color mode will get the best results from VIOVIO before I layout anymore books in the incorrect color mode for your process.

Thanks for your assistance.

Basheer,

Greetings from Viovio, thank you for your questions, they're good ones!

Pertaining to your bleed you are walking in the right direction. However I would suggest that you create your book 12.25 x 12.25 and allow a .25 inch bleed for the Trim line and then pull it in an additional .25 inch to enable a more attractive page with easier reading.

Your document size will then be 12.25 x 12.25, with a .5 or half inch bleed. So simply move the additional bleed further in the page instead of making the overall document size larger! You will be much more satisfied with your final product.

For questions pertaining to RGB verses CMYK you can read more on this page: http://blog.viovio.com/understanding-color/

Thank you again for your interest in Viovio, if you have any further questions let us know and we will do our best to help!
