At Arm's Length: The Street Photography of Alex Borysenko

A collection of selected works from the summer of 2005 to the summer of 2006. 31 fleeting moments of the quirky people that make New York City so special.

From the back cover:

During the one-year period between the summers of 2005 and 2006, I undertook an experiment in the process of photo-making.

My goal was to leave certain variables to chance and see if there were any worthwhile results.

My subject matter was whatever strangers I walked passed on the street, and I approached their capture on film as spontaneously as I could. Instead of looking through the viewfinder to compose, I would quickly dart my arm out in front of or above whatever I was photographing.

The resulting photographs contained in this series are arranged loosely by facial expression and pose.
