Viovio beats other consumer books

by Vani Malley, Tuesday 11 of December, 2007 (21:13:09 UTC)
I have printed with Mypublisher (soft and hardbound fabric windowed), photoworks, blurb etc.. Viovio beats all of them. Viovio is understated, not advertised as much as shutterfly or mypublisher. The colors for mypub were so over saturated that the skin tones looks ugly - too red. I don't like the windowed fabric covers either, look too cheap.

I just got my viovio book, 8.5x11 hardcover with upgraded paper with custom hardcover. Beautiful. I wasn't going to expect this quality considering that the price was low. Viovio beats in print quality and thickness of paper.

I also print for pro use and this is something I could offer to clients. If you are not a pro and cannot print the higher end wedding books, this is it.

The only downside is the software from viovio does not have the features or ease of use compared to shutterfly or mypub, but it does not matter to me. I was primarily looking for quality in printing. If you can get yourself up to speed with Adobe Indesign, or PS and design your own pages, it is an easy upload. Plus you have all the creative control in publishing, and using your own software is fast, and can always keep a local copy and publish anywhere.

Re: upgraded paper with custom hardcover

Hi Vani,
You mentioned that you ordred an 8.5x11 hardcover with upgraded paper with custom hardcover. Can you be more specific? Where did you find these options? I am hoping to order the portrait pro bound hard cover, but it is not offered with the silk paper option. What kind of paper upgrade did you do? Was it the 8.5x11 portrait or landscape? Which cover?
Thanks, Ted

Viovio beats Shutterfly's prices! A 100 page hardcover 8x8 book at Shutterfly would be $109.99 and a 100 page 8.5 x 8.5 hardcover at Viovio is $39.99!! Plus Shutterfly fly has a 101 page limit, and Viovio has a 160 page limit. I did my daughter's baby book with Viovio because of price and because there were too many pages to print it with Shutterlfy anyway.

Prices need updating

by Trevor, Monday 20 of August, 2007 (07:32:31 UTC)
Hi Connie,

I noticed that the prices need updating. The only size My Publisher offers as a paperback, 7.75 x 5.75, now costs more: it would be $22.75 for 40 pages. The base 11 x 9 hardcover would costs $49.60, compared to your $14.99 for 40 pages. Obviously, your prices *rock*, and more people should know about them!

We don't typically offer samples. Our prices are so low and we just do have samples built into the price. We'd rather keep the prices low. Many members will create a 10 page book of their own work and use that to compare quality and color of the images.

Viovio needs software like MyPublisher has...

by Wags, Thursday 01 of February, 2007 (04:36:51 UTC)
I've created photobooks with MyPublisher, Shutterfly and Viovio and while I like the finished product (and price!) with Viovio, the software you folks have leaves something to be desired. MyPublisher is the easist to use and there are no restrictions when it comes to upload size. The 200mgs Viovio allows isn't very much when you are uploading a 50+ page digital scrapbook.

I completely disagree! I don't know what MyPub software you used, but the one I downloaded for mac was crap! And do they have an option for upload pdf's/ other premade books? I doubt it. For pro service viovio kicks MyPub's butt. Maybe MyPub works for simpler consumer stuff.
