Die-cut FAQ

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the die-cut book.

Does the diecut hardcover have a window to see the page behind it?

Yes, the front cover of the die-cut book has a 4x3 window in the center. Your designated front cover image is scalled to peek through that window. When you get to the cover creation stage of the book maker process select the die-cut cover tab to see how your cover will peak through the die-cut.

What size is that window and coordinates so when I make it in InDesign I can accomodate for it?

The window is approximately 4x3 but you don't need to create that page. We actually scale your front cover image to peek through the die-cut window. We also give you the option to manually scale the image or to allow the full cover to peak through. The full cover image option will allow only a portion of the image to peek through. It actually looks very cool for some designs.

My book is created and I want to make changes to my cover. What do I do?

To make that change to the cover all you need to do is login, go to your my products page and select the product title. Select the cover options link and then select the die-cut cover tab. Then select the radio button for "Scale the front cover to fit inside the die-cut window." and click the UPDATE COVER button.

How many hardback books sizes do you offer?

We offer several hardback options that are listed below:

8.5x11 & 8.5x8.5 case wrap hardbacks. These books allow for images on the front and back cover. Production time on these is 14 business days for the Pro option bind and 5 business days for the quick bind option.

11x8.5 die-cut hardback. No images are on the cover. You can select the cover material. Here is a link to the variety of cover material options The image you designate as your cover image peeks through the die-cut. We will scale the image you designate as your cover image. Production time on this book is 5 business days.

10x10 hardback is similar to the 11x8.5 in the fact that the cover image doesn't cover the entire front cover area. There is a smaller image on the front of the book that is the cover image. Here is a link to the page that lists 10x10 books

10.5x12 wireo hardback is a very fun product. You can print cover images on the front and back covers plus the binding is wireo so you can lay the book flat when you are showing the interior pages. Here is a link to the page with the 10x12 pictures

Hello:
In the die cut book, the cover page is printed so that it peaks through the die cut-it is on the right hand page as you open the book. What about the following pages? Is the first page following the cover printed on the left hand page (as if it was pg. 2) or the right hand page (like it was pg. 1)?

cover material

What is the cover material for the Die-Cut Books? I can't tell if it is wrapped in a leather-like material, or if it is just embossed to look like leather. I'm hoping for the first, or, better yet, wrapped in actual leather. I could sell a ton of those.

I just wanted to clarify what I am asking even more, as I just noticed that in one of the books I ordered from another company was technically also wrapped in a leather like material. The difference is that it was wrapped in a paper material that was embossed to look like leather, rather than being wrapped in actual leather, or a simulated leather fabric, where it feels like leather and not paper.
I saw someone refer to the material you use as suede, but I didn't know if they were refering to actual suede or not.
I used to offer my clients books made my mypublisher. I have since changed over to your hard cover books (which I am thrilled with) but I just recently had two of my former clients ask for the old leather bound books. I am wondering if I might be able to give them your books with out them noticing a huge difference(they each have seen and felt the mypublisher books I used to carry), as I am really happy with your service.
