Consideration when evaluating property/open land

• Is the property FEE-SIMPLE or LEASEHOLD?
• How close are utilities: power, phone, cable (for internet)?
• Are there any restrictions on the size, style, location, $c of the house(s)?
• What is the climate? Annual precipation?
• What is the altitude? (With every 1,000 foot climb in elevation, the temperature, on average, drops another 3.5 degrees.)
• What are the temperature swings throughout the year? Will we need central heat/AC?
• How many houses can we put on the property?
• Are composting toilets allowed? They would save a lot of up front $$s.
• If we let the power company bring power onto the property, do they then have the right to take power from the pole on our property somewhere else, i.e. diagonally across our view?
• Who owns the surrounding property and what are the possible future uses?
