Abiemnom: is the town located in the Northwestern part of Unity State.
It is known of its oil rich revenues and good fertile land.
Abiemnom Town is inhabited by the people so called RUWENG people.
In historically, Ruweng was the first area being exterminated by the SAF
in 1982 when the SPLA take up arms and started to waged the war against the
Khartoum government. The people in this town escaped to different areas
such as Panaruu region, Bhar-el-ghazel region, Nuer and some run to
Northern part of Khartoum.
These people had been really suffered since the time when the war break out in Sudan leaving a number of Ruweng Dinka of Abiemnom people dead and some abducted by the Arab invaders. During the Arab invading, it was really very intensively bad especially in side of Agaara village where thousands of people had been shot to death while some where persecuted and dehumanized. The same thing happened in Weraghoor swamp of Ruweng were many people of Ruweng used to go and draws some water for home domestic used. All the houses including schools and hospitals were been burned to ash because the Arab planning was to pulverized all they Ruweng Dinka six sub-clans living around the Oil Field in Unity State of Sudan.
