Basal is one of the most popular village in district Attock. It is located 45 KM south of Attock City and serves as the demographic/geographic centre and cross link between Attock, Chakwal, Kohat and Rawalpindi on main Rawalpindi - Kohat Road. Most of the population earn their livinghoods by agriculture however a great number of population also serves in Pakistan army, air force,Pakistan navy, Wapda, railway and private services. There are three railway stations(basal junction,basal shareef,sulaiman abad)in the village.
A huge High School and college near railway station is a great house of learning for over 20 villages in the area and another good institution is "FAUJI FOUNDATION MODEL SCHOOL BASAL" which is playing an important role in the field of education.So many outstanding students out come from this college and become a charming personalities.Like lt,general javed afzal khan, Brig, Amir afzal Khan , Major Amir muhammad khan of thatta,Brig, Tariq,Brig muner of pindsultani, Brig Amir mumtaz of pindsultani,and so many others. In world war Basal air port was also used by British Air Force. A 350 Acres of land was excavated and constructed into a huge runway which is nomore operational and has been declared class D means unusable. Basal is also the place where SSG Commandoes are trained for free fall. Few of the notables from Basal include SHER KHAN of BHOTMAR and his three son MOHAMMAD AFSAR KHAN working in ALLAMA IQBAL OPEN UNIVERSITY ISLAMABAD , MOHAMMAD AKHTAR KHAN who is a social worker and was elected as "GENERAL COUNCELLER" of BASAL UNION COUNCIL,JAVED IQBAL KHAN,HAJI MIAN KHAN and his son MUHAMMAD KHAN SETHI. Haji Mian Khan was a member of Union Council Basal. Muhammad Khan was another shining personality of village Basal. He died on 04-Aug-2006. He left two sons, Shahzad Muhammad Khan & Adrish Ali Khan .saad khan and muhammad waqas are also the two young ang goodlooking guys of basal. Professor Dr. Ghulam Jeelani Burq (brother of Master Ghulam Yahya),Khan mian Khan (Late) former Distric education Officer, chairman Union Council Basal,Sardar Haji nadir Khan (Late) Former Punchait Member basal Mohallah South,Both of them are from same family cost, Khan mian Khan and Haji nadir khan have served the people of basal and whole areas as a whole,Khan Iqbal Khan former member district council, Jehan Khan of Attock Oil,Sardar Mumtaz Khan who has gain much popularity in the region and was MPA candidate from PML(N) in the last election 2008, headmaster Haji Muhammad Nawaz Khan,( these all are prominent personalities of WARD # 1 of Basal, Olympic Hockey Player Zakir Hussain Son Of Major Ghulam Ali ,faisal khan,sain shakeel, Iqbal Khan councillor Bhotmar Basal,HAFEEZ KHAN S/O NAWAB KHAN a prominent figure of basal who is helping to promote the youth of basal.Another brillient personalities like tashkeel ijaz khan, adil ijaz khan are not forgetable.
Pervez Khalid Khan Oil executive parakanda,Sadaqat Khan parakanda, Mian Khan chairman PPP Parakunda,Haji Abdul Latif Parakanda (councellor Attock UC1) ,Haji Iqbal Khan who died in Saudi was a prominant socail worker and laid foundation stone for Tel service in area by depositing that initial money thus initiating process,Master Tayeeb Khan,Lala Faqir Khan wapda, Flight Lieutenant Hajji Faqir Muhammad, Adalat Khan, Hajji Amanat Khan, Captain Zahid Faqir (MSc Pakistan Studies, MAIR & MA Eng), Haji Fazaldad Khan & Subdair Ameer Afzal Khan(Sulemanabad) who is known as social worker. Recently a Small dam has been built at Bhutmar in Basal and
second and BIG one on the north of basal. From Rawalpindi it is 100KM. A rainwater nala flow in the centre
of village.Basal is basically located at the mouth of Kala Chitta Mountain Ranges. People generally sow wheat, pea nuts, water melons, melons, maize, barley, jawar. Cattle Farming is also common.
