A couple of kids discovered Cave of the Winds when they were out hiking in the hills. They decided to bring someone else to see their discovery and that is how the Cave of the Winds came into being in the late 1800s. I had never visited the Cave and decided after living here since 1973 it was time I visited. And oh what an an adventure it was. I was completely amazed. Kids would really like this Cave. It does cost $16, but well worth the entrance fee if you snap pictures. And there's also a lantern tour that is an hour and a half.
There's about 200 steps that you have to climb as you go through the cave. You have to have a tripod and make sure to set it on the
ground and take your time to snap pictures of the stalagmites and cave coral. They will even take your picture in the cave and you can purchase it on your way out. I recommend you go on a weekday when there aren't so many people otherwise you might stand in line for about an hour. I must admit, I thought I saw cave ghosts in the images of the photos I took. Well. . .
