Features ancient site, ancient wall, ruin
The triumphal arch was built for the Roman Emperor Hadrian in 131 AD. Constructed of ornate Corinthian columns, it lies on an ancient street that led from the old city of Athens to the new portion of the city built by the Roman emporer. On the Acropolis side, the inscription states "This is Athens, the ancient city of Theseus". On the other it says "This is the City of Hadrian and not of Theseus".
