Parit

Parit is a small town along the Perak River and part of the Middle Perak District. It has rich history that bring us back to the colonial days and japanese occupation. This can be seem through some of the remaining old structures and buildings such as the post office, police station, Iskandar Shah school and old shop houses lining the main road. In the middle of the town, a clock tower was erected in 1957. The clock tower was officiated by the Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The main road cross the town link it with Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar, Beruas and Bandar Seri Iskandar. With the road network, the town is easily accessible from other parts of Perak.

The population of Parit are mostly Malays where they live in many villages around the town. In the town itself, it populated by Chinese traders and shop keepers. There are many plantations and estates in Parit. The rubber plantations are originally owned by the British before it was taken over by local Companies. The major plantations are Riviver View Rubber Estate (now known as Buloh Akar Estate), Parit Perak Estate etc. Now the estates are planted with oil palm instead of rubber due to economic reasons.
