The Quilts of Annette Pauls - 2006
Starting Quilting in 1986 at age 60 after raising her 5 children, this energetic and exacting woman has created a quilting legacy that will span generations. Born and raised in Red Lake Falls, Minn. on a small family farm and in that small town she learned the rural skills that helped the family supply their own meat and vegetables while growing up. Trained as a nurse by the disciplined sisters at the St. Cloud Minn. Hospital, she carried that discipline and expectations of excellence to her children. While managing the household she still had time for landscaping the yard, daily meals and packing lunches for us 5, baking and making the 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies that we all treasure. Given a spare moment she added making cabbage patch style dolls, refinishing furniture and upholstering worn chairs and sofas to her talents. She has been a loving mother and has taught us all the blessings that hard work and doing for others can bring into our life. Since bragging about one's own accomplishments is against the principles Mom lives by, it is up to us, her kids to do it for her.

Thank you all, so much for sharing your Mom's Gifts!

biggrinDear Larry and the Paul Family,

I wish to send a great big thank you for sharing your Mother's quilts with all of us. I too grew up with a very loving parents. I am number 5 of 8, five boys and three girls. I learned to crochet from my paternal grandmother and in turn taught my Mom to crochet. Since learning she has made an afghan for each of her children, their spouses, grand & great grand children and their spouses! We had a Bring you Afghan Party for Mom's 75th Birthday and at that time there were 38 afghans! We did take a group photo of all of us with Mom & Dad and the Afghans but I wish I had your presence of mind to photograph each one.

Your Mother's Quilt-work is so Beautiful! Rarely have I seen as many well made, and artisticly pleasing quilts in one place. It takes a rare and very loving Mother to have put so much time, talent and care into makeing these keepsakes for you and your family!

Thanks again for sharing so generously!

Warm regards,

Mary Ann B.
