These pictures were taken March 20, 2009. I made a day-trip from our home, in Albuquerque, to the Very Large Array (VLA). CLICK ON THE FIRST PICTURE, THEN CLICK ON THE FORWARD ARROW, BESIDE THE PICTURE, TO MOVE TO THE NEXT ONE.
7:30 a.m. - Albuquerque
It's springtime when, all over Albuquerque, balloons are lifting off from parking lots and empty fields. As I left town this morning, these were taking off from a bank parking lot.

Another part of the old lodge, undergoing restoration.
| Magdalena, NM
To get to the VLA, I drove up into the mountains and went through the little town of Magdalena. This is one of the many vistas from Magdalena.

Magdalena - Creamland Dairy Advertisement
Magdalena is a quaint little town. This old Creamland Dairy ad is fading away with age, from the side of a brick building.
| Cafe in Magdalena
This cafe is in another old brick building, apparently originally a bank.
| Out for a Walk with the Bird
As I was taking the picture of the cafe (previous photo), this girl and her bird walked by!

Note the size of the dish as compared to the workman who is standing mid-way up, on the platform.
| The Tracks for Moving the Antennas
The individual dishes are moved using a pair of railroad tracks.

Backside of Dish
See the lady, standing at the very left of the fence? That gives you an idea of the size of these dishes.
