Scattered Bones along Hell Roaring Creek Trail

Scattered Bones along Hell Roaring Creek Trail

The trail to Hell Roaring Creek in Yellowstone National Park. The Hell Roaring Trailhead is just over three miles from Tower Junction on the Mammoth-Tower Road and is just north of Floating Island Lake. The trail descends a series of steep switchbacks, producing an elevation drop of about 600 feet over a very short distance. The trail then leads to a steel and concrete suspension bridge that crosses over the Black Canyon of the Yellowstone River before heading on to Hell Roaring Creek. September 2002.
