difference between Imagewrap Hardcover and Perfect Bound Softcover?

by Amy Han, Tue 05 of Jul, 2011 (21:50 UTC)
I have a question. I made a photo book with 88 pages. I can't decide if I should get Imagewrap Hardcover with "Express Photo Silk Paper" or Perfect Bound Softcover with "Premium Photo Printing". I don't really care if it's hard or soft cover. But I want to find out which one has better paper or better printing quality ... or maybe they are the same things inside? Thanks!

InDesign and Bleeds

by Amanda, Fri 25 of Feb, 2011 (03:32 UTC)
Hi, I have a facing page InDesign file currently set up at 8.5x11 with 1/8" bleed all the way around. My question is, when I export the pdf checking the use document bleeds option, the result is that each page has an 1/8" snippet of the opposite page either on the left or the right depending on which side of the book you are looking at. Is there a way to mediate this?

Amanda,

Greetings from viovio and thanks for your interest.

You may have created your PDF with 2-page spreads. Please send a note to support@viovio.com with your user i.d and we'll take a look :)

Have a great day!

Question about pages

by marciemorra, Mon 29 of Nov, 2010 (20:30 UTC)
When you say minimum 20 pages, does this mean its 10 pages total (front and back printed?)

Re: Question about pages

by Viovio Support, Tue 30 of Nov, 2010 (17:41 UTC)
Marcie,

All interior pages are printed as two-sided (just like a novel). Each side of a piece of paper is a page :)

If you have anymore questions please let us know!

Minimum amount of pages

by Jennifer ONeill, Fri 05 of Nov, 2010 (15:41 UTC)
What is the minimum number of pages for the hardcover and softcover books? I can't tell from above - it says two different things in the header paragraph (20 pages) vs. under Min / Max Pages (24 pages).

My own design - photobook

by , Sun 12 of Sep, 2010 (07:17 UTC)
Hi, I have a question
I made digital scrapbook with Photoshop
and I want to print it.
So it's self-designed, I don't want to use your photobook creator (with themes etc).
Is it possible? What's the image requirement for the images I want to submit? I have some spreads too (1 picture spread in 2 pages)
Thanks a lot

greetings from Viovio and thank you for your interest.

We prefer one complete PDF or separate .jpg files. We recommend your images be at 300 dpi.

For all our trim sizes we recommend you make the cover images as well as the interior page images 1/4" larger than your book size. For example if you plan to create an 8.5x11 book the cover image as well as interior pages would be 8.75x11.25 (at 300 dpi).

Most importantly, keep all important items (people, heads, text, borders) away from the outer 1/2" on all sides.

Here is a page that may help
http://www.viovio.com/wiki/index.php?structure_id=303

We trim 1/8" on all sides and just keep in mind an 1/8" is a greater percentage of the book for our mini books than it is for say an 8.5x11 book. In other words 1/8" is a greater percentage of 5" than it is of 8.5". Does that make sense?

Here is a link to our page about 2-page spreads that may help: http://www.viovio.com/photos/gallery/11323

As a note, for all of our books the first interior page prints on the right, regardless of whether or not it displays on the right or left in the preview. The first interior page will always print on the right.
