You can just use your iPhoto PDF. We have several creators who use iPhoto to create the PDF and then upload the PDF to Viovio for printing. I would use a theme with a white background.
I say that because we recommend that your file be .25 larger than the final trim size for bleed. The iPhoto file is exactly 11x8.5, so if you have a dark background then when we trim your book you may see a tiny bit of white on the sides.
Also, you could try this to see if it would work in terms of scaling the PDF up. Save the iPhoto PDF from iPhoto (print - save as pdf) and open the PDF in acrobat and save as a postscript file (print-save as poscript file). In page setup set the scaling to around 120% (may need to tweak this %) to increase the document size to 14x11 with bleed), than create a PDF from the postscript file in distiller. There is no need to scale the file if you would like to create an 11x8.5 on Viovio.

Viovio does a nice 9x7 soft cover book. And you can find the upload dimensions necessary for a 14x11 Portfolio book here.

iPhoto portfolio book
Posted: Thu 03 of Jul, 2008 (18:03 UTC),I have a 100 page book built in iPhoto 08 and am wanting to make one of your cool looking 14.5 x 11 portfolio books. You mentioned in your iPhoto article print dimensions for a 9 x 7. What are the necessary page dimension to print to this one. Will the whole book scale up to fit the page size or will the just have huge white borders all around them?
