Doug, the 1.5 comes into play when your PDF has transparencies and embedded fonts. If you don't have fonts or transparencies the 1.4 should work for you.

Other than buying Adobe Acrobat to create PDF's that are the Adobe version 1.5 spec VioVio requires for accurate printing, what other options exist to create PDF's without spending a bunch? I checked several of the ones VioVio recommends on this site, and most create version 1.4 spec files
